Garden Corner

The corner of my old garden. Patio stones are textured from photos of the real thing, same with the brick wall. The table and chairs objects were downloaded from SimplyLightwave - a great resource for sharing Lightwave objects, models and textures. They were then re-textured. This image uses a spotlight texture on the light representing the sun to project the tree branch shadows that fall upon the various objects in the image. Radiosity and Caustics advanced lighting settings are used to give the image more realism. The second image shows the same scene lit at night using the garden lamp candle objects.

New Candle

A new version of the candle image found in Gallery 2. This image features some of the latest rendering technqiues to make it more realistic, including sub-surface scattering effects (where the light from the candle flame cause the wax to glow), radiosity for realistic lighting and high-dynamic range reflection images (HDRI) for tasty looking metalic surfaces.

The Kitchen

An attempt to create some photo-realistic objects and renders of a modern kitchen. The items on the fridge freezer are scanned from real objects. Radiosity (global illumination) is used to enhance the lighting. The cupboards and worktop surface are based on a real kitchen. All objects were created by me with the exception of the white china cup and saucer.

Juice Carton

The juice carton object is a photo-realistic object created by acurately modelling the shape and scanning the images from each side of a real carton. It is shown in an older version of the kitchen shown above, it has a different worktop and cupboards. All objects were created by me with the exception of the white china cup and saucer.

Andre's Room

The entire room and all objects in it are inspired from the front room of a friends flat. The view through the window is a real photo taken outside my house. Different images show different objects and lighting arrangements. The long thin light and glass tables cast interesting shadows and reflections. The sofa objects were downloaded from the web, but textured by me.

Spare Room

The spare room at the front of my house. The view is a real photo taken out of the window. The objects look a little out of place as they are really only there to add something to the otherwise empty room. The candle image is rendered with 'caustics' - an effect that models the focusing of light which creates the interesting effect from the candle flame.

Bathroom

An attempt to model and render a realistic bath object (complete with scummy scale marks) and a realistic object containing a thick coloured liquid.

The Room Part 1

The first of two different rooms containing various objects in different lighting arrangements. Neither of the rooms exist but some of the objects are modelled after real items. The second image uses the Sasquatch fur shader on the carpet to make a realistic fibre suface - it can be most easily seen near the edges of other objects like the skirting board. The chairs and tables in the scene are stock Lightwave objects but textured by me. The PlayStation object was created for a separate project several years ago but it always looks good in any scene.

The Room Part 2

The second of the two rooms. The images show the room in various stages of construction. This room is mostly lit using a single outside sunlight shining through the window. Radiosity global illumination is used to give a realistic sunlight effect. The image with the close up of the cup and saucer uses a depth-of-field effect to blur the background objects.
